The booths in the Job Fest Exhibitor Hall have been divided into Industry Sectors/Training Institutions that represent the types of industries that exist here in New Brunswick/Atlantic Canada.

Why are booths grouped based on Industry Sectors?

To be successful in today's workforce, people must think beyond obtaining a specific set of skills to be able to perform a specific job. Gone are the days that a person obtains a post secondary degree or diploma and settles into a job for the rest of their working career.

If fact, people can make significant career changes an average of  5-7 times during their career lifespan. To add to this, more employers are hiring people on temporary or project-based work contracts to avoid paying benefits or committing to an employee long term. A great video to watch on this topic is the CBC DocZone show "Generation Jobless" (http://www.cbc.ca/doczone/episode/generation-jobless.html?subpage=infographic).

For companies to stay successful, they seek to hire people who not only have desirable skill sets and education, but know how to apply those skills in unique and effective ways that will benefit the company.  This is where your interests, talent and long term career goals combine with your education to form a winning combination!

Job Fest is designed to give you an overview of the different industry sectors so you get an idea of how big these industries are, examples of ways you may be able to apply your skills and where opportunities can exist for those with an entrepreneurial spirit!

Local companies have agreed to participate in the industry booths that best represent their business, but some companies can actually span more than one industry type. Make sure to take the opportunity to chat with these company representatives as they are professionals in their respective fields and their coaching and insight may help you in deciding what direction to take after graduating from high school.
