Job Fest is brought to you through funding provided by the Government of Canada and the Province of New Brunswick through the Canada-New Brunswick Labour Market Agreements
Please read these quick quidelines on using the Job Fest chat feature.

Since I didn't use my name to log in am I anonymous?

No. Every student is assigned access codes so that their personal information will be protected but the event organizers and School District staff have master lists matching each student name with their unique identifying code.

Can I speak to the exhibitors?

Absolutely! That is why they have volunteered their time to participate.  Feel free to ask them questions about the industry they represent.  You can ask questions about how they got into their careers, tips for job seekers, how to have a great interview, what they look for on a resume, what they like about their job or what kinds of opportunities they see in their industry for students. They will do their best to answer your questions and/or refer you to the appropriate places where you can do some research.

What if I get to a booth and the exhibitor is not available to chat?

They may have stepped away from their computer momentarily or are in a conversation with another student and are temporarily unavailable to chat with you.  Please be patient and either wait in queue or leave the booth to explore other areas of Job Fest and come back later.

What if someone posts something inappropriate in a chat room?

Since every student will have an unique identification code, any inappropriate use of the chat function during the April 3rd and 4th live event, can be tracked back to the perpetrator. School administrators will be notified immediately and any disciplinary action will be handled by them.

All chat conversations are recorded as transcripts that can be saved and viewed at a later date. The purpose of this is to provide students with a record so if they want to refer to the transcript for information/advice they receive from exhibitors, they don't have to write everything down. It does however, provide evidence if someone is using the chat feature inappropriately.

The entire event is monitored in real time, so if there is an issue, it is caught quickly.

What is considered to be appropriate behaviour in a chat room?

Basically treat it like a job interview. You can ask as many questions as you like if they are related to careers and employment (don't ask exhibitors to hire you!). Provided your interactions are courteous and professional, both you and the exhibitors will enjoy a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and network.

Any profanity or conversations that are deemed to be either wasting an exhibitors time or offensive based on the subject matter will result in the perpetrator losing event access and their recorded conversation and id # reported to school administration (as outlined above).

Can I use texting lingo?

Please don't. Try to converse with the exhibitors using proper grammar and avoid all the lol, btw and b4n abbreviations.
